24:1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
24:1 너는 악한 사람들을 부러워하지 말며 그들과 함께 있는 것도 바라지 말지어다.
24:2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
24:2 그들의 마음은 파괴를 계획하며 그들의 입술은 해악을 말하느니라.
24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
24:3 집은 지혜로 지어지고 명철로 견고해지며
24:4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
24:4 방들은 지식으로 인하여 모든 진귀하고 즐거운 재물로 가득 차게 되느니라.
24:5 A wise man [is] strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
24:5 현명한 사람은 강하고, 지식이 있는 사람은 힘을 늘려가느니라.
24:6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors [there is] safety.
24:6 현명한 조언으로 싸움을 하라. 조언자가 많아야 안전하니라.
24:7 Wisdom [is] too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
24:7 지혜는 너무 높아서 어리석은 자가 미치지 못하나니, 그는 성문에서 자기 입을 열지 못하느니라.
24:8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
24:8 악을 행하기를 꾀하는 자는 교활한 자라고 불리우리라.
24:9 The thought of foolishness [is] sin: and the scorner [is] an abomination to men.
24:9 어리석은 생각은 죄요, 조롱하는 자는 사람들에게 가증함이니라.
24:10 [If] thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength [is] small.
24:10 네가 역경의 날에 낙담하면 네 힘은 미약해지느니라.
24:11 If thou forbear to deliver [them that are] drawn unto death, and [those that are] ready to be slain;
24:11 만일 죽음으로 끌려가는 자들과 살해될 자들을 구해 주는 것을 삼가고
24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider [it]? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth [not] he know [it]? and shall [not] he render to [every] man according to his works?
24:12 말하기를 "보라, 우리가 그것을 알지 못하였다." 할지라도, 마음을 감찰하시는 분이 어찌 주시하지 못하시겠으며, 네 혼을 지키시는 분이 어찌 그것을 알지 못하시겠느냐? 그 분께서 각자의 행위에 따라 보응하지 않으시겠느냐?
24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because [it is] good; and the honeycomb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:
24:13 내 아들아, 너는 꿀을 먹으라. 그것이 좋기 때문이라. 벌집을 먹으라. 그것이 네 입에 다니라.
24:14 So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] unto thy soul: when thou hast found [it], then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
24:14 지혜의 지식이 네 혼에 그렇게 좋으리니, 네가 그것을 얻으면 그때에는 상이 있을 것이며 너의 기대가 끊어지지 않을 것이니라.
24:15 Lay not wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
24:15 악한 사람아, 의로운 자의 처소를 쓰러뜨리려고 엿보지 말며, 그의 쉬는 곳을 해치지 말라.
24:16 For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
24:16 의로운 사람은 일곱 번 넘어져도 다시 일어나나, 악인은 재앙으로 인하여 넘어지리로다.
24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
24:17 네 원수가 넘어질 때 기뻐하지 말며 그가 실족할 때 네 마음으로 즐거워하지 말라.
24:18 Lest the LORD see [it], and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
24:18 주께서 그것을 보시고 기뻐하지 아니하사 주의 진노를 그에게서 옮기실까 하노라.
24:19 Fret not thyself because of evil [men], neither be thou envious at the wicked;
24:19 너는 악한 사람들로 인하여 초조해하지 말고 악인을 부러워하지 말라.
24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil [man]; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
24:20 악한 사람에게는 보상이 없을 것이며, 악인의 촛불은 꺼질 것임이니라.
24:21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: [and] meddle not with them that are given to change:
24:21 내 아들아, 주와 왕을 두려워하라. 거역하는 자들과 사귀지 말라.
24:22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
24:22 그들의 재난이 갑자기 일어나리니, 그들의 파멸을 누가 알랴?
24:23 These [things] also [belong] to the wise. [It is] not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24:23 이것들이 또한 현명한 자에게 속한 것이니, 판단함에 있어 외모를 존중하는 것은 좋지 아니하니라.
24:24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou [art] righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
24:24 악인에게 말하기를 "네가 옳다." 하는 자는, 백성이 그를 저주하고 민족들이 그를 미워하리라.
24:25 But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
24:25 그러나 그를 꾸짖는 자들에게는 즐거움이 있을 것이요, 또 좋은 복이 그들 위에 임할 것이라.
24:26 [Every man] shall kiss [his] lips that giveth a right answer.
24:26 바른 대답을 하는 입술에 모든 사람들이 입맞추리라.
24:27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
24:27 네 일을 밖에서 예비하고, 들에서도 적합하게 일할 수 있게 한 후에 네 집을 세우라.
24:28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive [not] with thy lips.
24:28 너는 까닭없이 네 이웃을 대적하여 증인이 되지 말며 네 입술로 속이지 말라.
24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
24:29 너는 말하기를 "그가 나에게 했던 것처럼 나도 그에게 그렇게 해 주리라. 그가 행한 대로 나도 그 사람에게 갚아 주겠노라." 하지 말라.
24:30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
24:30 내가 게으른 자의 밭과 지각 없는 자의 포도원을 지나갔더니
24:31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
24:31 보라, 농작물이 온통 가시나무와 더불어 자랐으며, 엉겅퀴가 그 지면을 덮었고, 돌담이 무너졌느니라.
24:32 Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it, and] received instruction.
24:32 그때 내가 보고 곰곰히 생각하였으며, 그것을 쳐다보고 교훈을 받았느니라.
24:33 [Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
24:33 좀더 자자, 좀더 졸자, 손을 모으고 좀더 자자 하면
24:34 So shall thy poverty come [as] one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
24:34 네 빈곤이 여행자같이 올 것이요, 네 빈궁이 강도같이 이르리라.
