1:1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
1:1 사울이 죽은 후에, 다윗이 아말렉인들을 살륙하고 돌아와서 시클락에서 이틀을 지냈을 때
1:2 It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and [so] it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
1:2 즉 삼일째 되던 날의 일이니, 보라, 어떤 사람이 사울의 진영에서 왔는데, 그의 옷은 찢어지고 머리에는 흙이 있더라. 그가 다윗에게 와서 땅에 엎드려 절하니
1:3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
1:3 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "네가 어디서 오느냐?" 하니 그가 다윗에게 말하기를 "내가 이스라엘 진영에서 피해 왔나이다." 하더라.
1:4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
1:4 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "일이 어찌 되었느냐? 내가 네게 청하노니, 내게 말하라." 하니 그가 대답하기를 "백성들은 전쟁터에서 도망하였고 많은 사람들이 쓰러져 죽었으며, 사울과 그의 아들 요나단도 죽었나이다." 한지라,
1:5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
1:5 다윗이 자기에게 고한 청년에게 말하기를 "너는 어떻게 사울과 그의 아들 요나단이 죽은 것을 알았느냐?" 하니
1:6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.
1:6 그 청년이 다윗에게 말하기를 "내가 우연히 길보아 산에 올랐는데, 보소서, 사울이 그의 창에 기대 있고, 보소서, 병거들과 기병들이 그를 맹렬히 쫓아오는데
1:7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here [am] I.
1:7 그가 뒤를 돌아보다가 나를 보더니 나를 부르시기에, 내가 대답하기를 '내가 여기 있나이다.' 하니
1:8 And he said unto me, Who [art] thou? And I answered him, I [am] an Amalekite.
1:8 그가 나에게 말씀하시기를 '너는 누구냐?' 하시기에 내가 대답하기를 '나는 아말렉 사람이니이다.' 하니
1:9 He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life [is] yet whole in me.
1:9 그가 다시 내게 말씀하시기를 '내가 네게 청하노니, 내 위에 서서 나를 죽이라. 내 생명이 아직도 내 안에 온전히 있어 고통이 내게 있음이라.' 하시기에
1:10 So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that [was] upon his head, and the bracelet that [was] on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
1:10 내가 그 위에서 그를 죽였으니, 그가 쓰러진 뒤로 살 수 없음을 내가 확신하였기 때문이니이다. 그리하여 내가 그의 머리에 쓰고 있는 왕관과 그의 팔에 있는 팔찌를 빼어 여기 내 주께로 가져왔나이다." 하더라.
1:11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that [were] with him:
1:11 그러자 다윗이 자기 옷을 잡아 찢으니, 그와 함께한 모든 사람이 그같이 하더라.
1:12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
1:12 그들이 사울과, 그의 아들 요나단과, 주의 백성과, 이스라엘 집으로 인하여 애곡하여 울며 저녁까지 금식하였으니, 그들이 칼에 쓰러졌기 때문이라.
1:13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence [art] thou? And he answered, I [am] the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
1:13 다윗이 자기에게 고한 그 청년에게 말하기를 "네가 어디서 왔느냐?" 하자 그가 대답하기를 "나는 타국인의 아들, 아말렉인이니이다." 하더라.
1:14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?
1:14 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "어찌하여 너는 네 손을 뻗쳐 주의 기름 부음 받은 이를 죽이기를 무서워하지 아니하였느냐?" 하고
1:15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, [and] fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
1:15 청년들 가운데 하나를 불러 말하기를 "가까이 가서 그를 죽이라." 하자, 청년이 그를 치니 그가 죽으니라.
1:16 And David said unto him, Thy blood [be] upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD'S anointed.
1:16 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "네 피가 네 머리로 돌아갈지니라. 이는 네 입이 너에 대하여 증거하여 말하기를 '내가 주의 기름 부음 받은 이를 죽였노라.' 하였음이라." 하더라.
1:17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
1:17 다윗이 사울과 그의 아들 요나단에 대하여 이 애가로 애도하였으니
1:18 (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah [the use of] the bow: behold, [it is] written in the book of Jasher.)
1:18 (그가 또한 그들에게 명하기를 유다 자손에게 '활의 용도'를 가르치라고 하더라. 보라, 그것이 야셀의 책에 기록되니라.)
1:19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
1:19 "이스라엘의 아름다움이 너의 높은 곳 위에서 죽임을 당하였구나. 용사들이 어떻게 쓰러졌는가!
1:20 Tell [it] not in Gath, publish [it] not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
1:20 가드에도 말하지 말고, 아스클론 거리에도 알리지 말라. 필리스티아인들의 딸들이 즐거워할까, 할례받지 아니한 자들의 딸들이 환호할까 하노라.
1:21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, [let there be] no dew, neither [let there be] rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, [as though he had] not [been] anointed with oil.
1:21 너희 길보아 산들아, 너희 위에는 이슬도 비도 없고 제물 낼 밭도 없을지라. 이는 거기서 용사의 방패가 천하게 버려졌음이니, 곧 사울의 방패요, 그가 마치 기름 부음을 받지도 않았던 것 같도다.
1:22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
1:22 죽임 당한 자들의 피로부터, 용사의 기름으로부터 요나단의 활이 뒤로 돌이키지 아니하였으며, 사울의 칼이 헛되이 돌아오지 아니하였도다.
1:23 Saul and Jonathan [were] lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
1:23 사울과 요나단은 살아서도 서로 사랑하며, 기쁘게 여기는 자들이더니, 죽어서도 나눠지지 아니하였구나. 그들은 독수리보다 더 빨랐으며, 그들은 사자보다 더 강하였도다.
1:24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with [other] delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
1:24 너희 이스라엘의 딸들아, 사울을 위하여 울지어다. 그가 너희를 다른 즐거움들과 더불어 진홍색 옷을 입혔으며, 그가 너희의 옷에 금장식을 달아 주었도다.
1:25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, [thou wast] slain in thine high places.
1:25 용사들이 어떻게 전쟁중에 쓰러졌는가! 오 요나단이여, 그대는 그대의 높은 곳에서 죽임을 당하였도다.
1:26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
1:26 나의 형제 요나단이여! 내가 그대로 인하여 괴로워하노라. 그대는 내게 큰 기쁨이었으며, 나에 대한 그대의 사랑은 놀라워서 여자들의 사랑을 초월하였도다.
1:27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
1:27 어떻게 용사들이 쓰러졌으며, 전쟁의 무기가 망하였는가!"
1:1 사울이 죽은 후에, 다윗이 아말렉인들을 살륙하고 돌아와서 시클락에서 이틀을 지냈을 때

1:3 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "네가 어디서 오느냐?" 하니 그가 다윗에게 말하기를 "내가 이스라엘 진영에서 피해 왔나이다." 하더라.
1:4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
1:4 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "일이 어찌 되었느냐? 내가 네게 청하노니, 내게 말하라." 하니 그가 대답하기를 "백성들은 전쟁터에서 도망하였고 많은 사람들이 쓰러져 죽었으며, 사울과 그의 아들 요나단도 죽었나이다." 한지라,
1:5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
1:5 다윗이 자기에게 고한 청년에게 말하기를 "너는 어떻게 사울과 그의 아들 요나단이 죽은 것을 알았느냐?" 하니

1:8 And he said unto me, Who [art] thou? And I answered him, I [am] an Amalekite.
1:8 그가 나에게 말씀하시기를 '너는 누구냐?' 하시기에 내가 대답하기를 '나는 아말렉 사람이니이다.' 하니
1:9 He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life [is] yet whole in me.

1:11 그러자 다윗이 자기 옷을 잡아 찢으니, 그와 함께한 모든 사람이 그같이 하더라.
1:12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
1:12 그들이 사울과, 그의 아들 요나단과, 주의 백성과, 이스라엘 집으로 인하여 애곡하여 울며 저녁까지 금식하였으니, 그들이 칼에 쓰러졌기 때문이라.
1:13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence [art] thou? And he answered, I [am] the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

1:16 다윗이 그에게 말하기를 "네 피가 네 머리로 돌아갈지니라. 이는 네 입이 너에 대하여 증거하여 말하기를 '내가 주의 기름 부음 받은 이를 죽였노라.' 하였음이라." 하더라.
