6:1 Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and [that] there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
6:1 산발랏과, 토비야와, 아라비아인 게셈과, 우리의 원수들 중 남은 자들이 내가 성벽을 건축한 것과 그곳에 파손된 부분이 남아 있지 않다는 것을 듣고서 (그때까지 성문들에 문짝을 달지는 아니하였으나)
6:2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in [some one of] the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
6:2 산발랏과 게셈이 내게 보내어 말하기를 "오라, 우리가 오노 평지에 있는 부락들 중 하나에서 만나자." 하더라. 그러나 그들은 나를 해치려 생각함이었더라.
6:3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I [am] doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
6:3 이에 내가 그들에게 사자들을 보내어 말하기를 "내가 지금 큰 공사를 하고 있으므로 내려갈 수 없노라. 어찌하여 내가 일을 떠나 너희에게 내려가 공사를 중단시키겠느냐?" 하였더라.
6:4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
6:4 그들이 그와 같이 네 번이나 내게 보내었으나, 내가 그들에게 같은 방법으로 대답하였더라.
6:5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6:5 그러자 산발랏이 같은 방법으로 다섯 번째로 그의 부하를 내게 보냈는데, 그의 손에 봉하지 않은 편지를 들려 보냈으니
6:6 Wherein [was] written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith [it, that] thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
6:6 그 편지에 기록되기를 "이방 가운데 알려졌고 가스무도 말하는 바는 너와 유대인들이 모반을 생각한다는 것인데, 네가 성벽을 건축하는 까닭은 그 말대로 네가 그들의 왕이 되려는 것이라.
6:7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, [There is] a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
6:7 또 네가 선지자들을 임명하여 예루살렘에서 너에 관하여 전파하여 말하기를 '유다에 왕이 있다.' 하였으니, 이제 그 소문이 그 말대로 왕에게 전해질 것이라. 그러므로 이제 오라, 우리가 함께 의논하자." 하였더라.
6:8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
6:8 그때 내가 그에게 보내어 말하기를 "네가 말하는 대로 그렇게 된 일들은 없으니, 네가 네 마음 속에서 꾸며내는 것이라." 하였으니
6:9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, [O God], strengthen my hands.
6:9 이는 그들 모두가 우리로 두렵게 하여 말하기를 "그들의 손이 일하는 데 약해져서 이루지 못하리라." 함이라. 그러므로 이제 오 하나님이여, 내 손을 힘 있게 하소서.
6:10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who [was] shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
6:10 그 후에 내가 두문불출하는 므헤타브엘의 손자, 들라야의 아들 스마야에게 가니, 그가 말하기를 "우리가 하나님의 전에서, 즉 성전 안에서 만나 성전의 문을 닫자. 그들이 너를 죽이러 오리니, 실로 그들이 밤에 너를 죽이러 오리라." 하니
6:11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who [is there], that, [being] as I [am], would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
6:11 내가 말하기를 "나 같은 자가 도망하겠느냐? 나 같은 자로서 누가 자기 생명을 구하고자 성전으로 들어가겠느냐? 내가 들어가지 아니하리라." 하였더라.
6:12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
6:12 보라, 나는 하나님께서 그를 보내신 것이 아니라는 것과, 그가 나를 대적하여 이 예언을 발표하였음을 알았노니, 이는 토비야와 산발랏이 전에 그를 매수하였음이라.
6:13 Therefore [was] he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and [that] they might have [matter] for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
6:13 그러므로 그가 매수되었으니, 이는 나로 무서워하게 하고 그렇게 행하여 죄를 짓게 하여 그들이 악한 소문을 위한 일을 만들어 나를 비난하고자 함이더라.
6:14 My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
6:14 나의 하나님이여, 주께서는 나를 두려움에 처하게 하려 한 토비야와 산발랏과 여선지자 노아댜와 선지자들의 남은 자들을 그들의 이전 행위에 따라 생각하소서.
6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth [day] of [the month] Elul, in fifty and two days.
6:15 그리하여 성벽이 엘룰 월 이십오일에, 오십이 일 만에 끝났더라.
6:16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard [thereof], and all the heathen that [were] about us saw [these things], they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
6:16 우리의 모든 원수들이 그 소식을 듣고 우리 주위에 있는 모든 이방이 이 일들을 보자, 그들이 그들 자신의 눈에 심히 낮추어졌으니, 이는 그들이 이 공사가 우리 하나님에 의해 이루어진 것을 알았음이더라.
6:17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and [the letters] of Tobiah came unto them.
6:17 또, 그 당시에 유다의 귀족들이 많은 편지를 토비야에게 보냈고 토비야의 편지들도 그들에게 왔는데
6:18 For [there were] many in Judah sworn unto him, because he [was] the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
6:18 유다에 그에게 서원한 자들이 많았으니, 이는 그가 아라의 아들 스카냐의 사위였으며 토비야의 아들 여하난도 베레키야의 아들 므술람의 딸을 취하였기 때문이더라.
6:19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. [And] Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
6:19 또 그들이 토비야의 선행을 내 앞에서 보고하고, 또 나의 말도 그에게 전하였으며, 토비야가 나를 두렵게 하려고 편지들을 보냈더라.
6:1 산발랏과, 토비야와, 아라비아인 게셈과, 우리의 원수들 중 남은 자들이 내가 성벽을 건축한 것과 그곳에 파손된 부분이 남아 있지 않다는 것을 듣고서 (그때까지 성문들에 문짝을 달지는 아니하였으나)

6:12 보라, 나는 하나님께서 그를 보내신 것이 아니라는 것과, 그가 나를 대적하여 이 예언을 발표하였음을 알았노니, 이는 토비야와 산발랏이 전에 그를 매수하였음이라.
6:13 Therefore [was] he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and [that] they might have [matter] for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
