14:4 But some were indignantly [remarking] to one another, "Why has this perfume been wasted?

14:5 For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
14:5 "For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and [the money] given to the poor." And they were scolding her.

14:14 and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'

14:15 And he will himself show you a large upper room furnished (and) ready: and there make ready for us.
14:15 "And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished [and] ready; and prepare for us there."

14:38 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
14:38 "Keep watching and praying, that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

14:39 And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.

14:44 Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

14:45 And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him.

14:46 And they laid hands on him, and took him.
14:46 And they laid hands on Him, and seized Him.

14:47 But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.
14:47 But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

14:48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to seize me?
14:48 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as against a robber?

14:49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but (this is done) that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
14:49 "Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me; but [this has happened] that the Scriptures might be fulfilled."

14:50 And they all left him, and fled.
14:50 And they all left Him and fled.

14:51 And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth cast about him, over (his) naked (body): and they lay hold on him;

14:55 Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found it not.
14:55 Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain testimony against Jesus to put Him to death; and they were not finding any.

14:56 For many bare false witness against him, and their witness agreed not together.
14:56 For many were giving false testimony against Him, and [yet] their testimony was not consistent.

14:57 And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
14:57 And some stood up and [began] to give false testimony against Him, saying,

14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.
14:58 "We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'"

14:59 And not even so did their witness agree together.
14:59 And not even in this respect was their testimony consistent.

14:60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
14:60 And the high priest stood up [and came] forward and questioned Jesus, saying, "Do You make no answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?"

14:61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and saith unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
14:61 But He kept silent, and made no answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed [One?]"

14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
14:62 And Jesus said, "I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN."

14:63 And the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What further need have we of witnesses?
14:63 And tearing his clothes, the high priest *said, "What further need do we have of witnesses?

14:64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.
14:64 "You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows of their hands.
14:65 And some began to spit at Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the officers received Him with slaps [in the face.]

14:66 And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest;
14:66 And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest *came,

14:67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, (even) Jesus.
14:67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and *said, "You, too, were with Jesus the Nazarene."

14:68 But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
14:68 But he denied [it,] saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are talking about." And he went out onto the porch.

14:69 And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is (one) of them.
14:69 And the maid saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, "This is [one] of them!"

14:70 But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art (one) of them; for thou art a Galilaean.
14:70 But again he was denying it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, "Surely you are [one] of them, for you are a Galilean too."

14:71 But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
14:71 But he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this man you are talking about!"

14:72 And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
14:72 And immediately a cock crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, "Before a cock crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he began to weep.
