13:1 And as he went forth out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Teacher, behold, what manner of stones and what manner of buildings!
13:1 And as He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples *said to Him, "Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!"
13:2 And Jesus said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left here one stone upon another, which shall not be thrown down.
13:2 And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another which will not be torn down."
13:3 And as he sat on the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
13:3 And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately,
13:4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what (shall be) the sign when these things are all about to be accomplished?
13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be, and what [will be] the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?"
13:5 And Jesus began to say unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray.
13:5 And Jesus began to say to them, "See to it that no one misleads you.
13:6 Many shall come in my name, saying, I am (he); and shall lead many astray.
13:6 "Many will come in My name, saying, 'I am [He!'] and will mislead many.
13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not troubled: (these things) must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.
13:7 "And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; [those things] must take place; but [that is] not yet the end.
13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be earthquakes in divers places; there shall be famines: these things are the beginning of travail.
13:8 "For nation will arise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will [also] be famines. These things are [merely] the beginning of birth pangs.
13:9 But take ye heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in synagogues shall ye be beaten; and before governors and kings shall ye stand for my sake, for a testimony unto them.
13:9 "But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to [the] courts, and you will be flogged in [the] synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.
13:10 And the gospel must first be preached unto all the nations.
13:10 "And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
13:11 And when they lead you (to judgment), and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.
13:11 "And when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but [it is] the Holy Spirit.
13:12 And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.
13:12 "And brother will deliver brother to death, and a father [his] child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
13:13 "And you will be hated by all on account of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved.
13:14 But when ye see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not (let him that readeth understand), then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains:
13:14 "But when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
13:15 and let him that is on the housetop not go down, nor enter in, to take anything out his house:
13:15 "And let him who is on the housetop not go down, or enter in, to get anything out of his house;
13:16 and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak.
13:16 and let him who is in the field not turn back to get his cloak.
13:17 But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!
13:17 "But woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse babes in those days!
13:18 And pray ye that it be not in the winter.
13:18 "But pray that it may not happen in the winter.
13:19 For those days shall be tribulation, such as there hath not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never shall be.
13:19 "For those days will be a [time of] tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created, until now, and never shall.
13:20 And except the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the elect's sake, whom he chose, he shortened the days.
13:20 "And unless the Lord had shortened [those] days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect whom He chose, He shortened the days.
13:21 And then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ; or, Lo, there; believe (it) not:
13:21 "And then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ'; or, ' Behold, [He is] there ';do not believe [him;]
13:22 for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, the elect.
13:22 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order, if possible, to lead the elect astray.
13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have told you all things beforehand.
13:23 "But take heed; behold, I have told you everything in advance.
13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
13:24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,
13:25 and the stars shall be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken.
13:25 AND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
13:26 "And then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory.
13:27 And then shall he send forth the angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
13:27 "And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth, to the farthest end of heaven.
13:28 Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh;
13:28 "Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
13:29 even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that he is nigh, (even) at the doors.
13:29 "Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, [right] at the door.
13:30 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things be accomplished.
13:30 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
13:31 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
13:32 But of that day or that hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
13:32 "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father [alone.]
13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
13:33 "Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the [appointed] time is.
13:34 (It is) as (when) a man, sojourning in another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, to each one his work, commanded also the porter to watch.
13:34 ["It is] like a man, away on a journey, [who] upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, [assigning] to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.
13:35 Watch therefore: for ye know not when the lord of the house cometh, whether at even, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or in the morning;
13:35 "Therefore, be on the alert-- for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, at cockcrowing, or in the morning--
13:36 lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
13:36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.
13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
13:37 "And what I say to you I say to all, 'Be on the alert!'"
