27:1 In that day Jehovah with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster that is in the sea.
27:1 In that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan the twisted serpent; And He will kill the dragon who [lives] in the sea.
27:2 In that day: A vineyard of wine, sing ye unto it.
27:2 In that day, "A vineyard of wine, sing of it!
27:3 I Jehovah am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
27:3 "I, the LORD, am its keeper; I water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I guard it night and day.
27:4 Wrath is not in me: would that the briers and thorns were against me in battle! I would march upon them, I would burn them together.
27:4 "I have no wrath. Should someone give Me briars [and] thorns in battle, [Then] I would step on them, I would burn them completely.
27:5 Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; (yea), let him make peace with me.
27:5 "Or let him rely on My protection, Let him make peace with Me, Let him make peace with Me."
27:6 In days to come shall Jacob take root; Israel shall blossom and bud; and they shall fill the face of the world with fruit.
27:6 In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout; And they will fill the whole world with fruit.
27:7 Hath he smitten them as he smote those that smote them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of them that were slain by them?
27:7 Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?
27:8 In measure, when thou sendest them away, thou dost content with them; he hath removed (them) with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.
27:8 Thou didst contend with them by banishing them, by driving them away. With His fierce wind He has expelled [them] on the day of the east wind.
27:9 Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, (so that) the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.
27:9 Therefore through this Jacob's iniquity will be forgiven; And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; [When] Asherim and incense altars will not stand.
27:10 For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.
27:10 For the fortified city is isolated, A homestead forlorn and forsaken like the desert; There the calf will graze, And there it will lie down and feed on its branches.
27:11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have compassion upon them, and he that formed them will show them no favor.
27:11 When its limbs are dry, they are broken off; Women come [and] make a fire with them. For they are not a people of discernment, Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them.
27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Jehovah will beat off (his fruit) from the flood of the River unto the brook of Egypt; and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.
27:12 And it will come about in that day, that the LORD will start [His] threshing from the flowing stream of the Euphrates to the brook of Egypt; and you will be gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel.
27:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown; and they shall come that were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and they that were outcasts in the land of Egypt; and they shall worship Jehovah in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
27:13 It will come about also in that day that a great trumpet will be blown; and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship the LORD in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
