26:1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: we have a strong city; salvation will he appoint for walls and bulwarks.
26:1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong city; He sets up walls and ramparts for security.

26:2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth faith may enter in.
26:2 "Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, The one that remains faithful.

26:3 Thou wilt keep (him) in perfect peace, (whose) mind (is) stayed (on thee); because he trusteth in thee.
26:3 "The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in Thee.

26:4 Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, (even) Jehovah, is an everlasting rock.
26:4 "Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, [we have] an everlasting Rock.

26:5 For he hath brought down them that dwell on high, the lofty city: he layeth it low, he layeth it low even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
26:5 "For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.

26:6 The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
26:6 "The foot will trample it, The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless."

26:7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou that art upright dost direct the path of the just.
26:7 The way of the righteous is smooth; O Upright One, make the path of the righteous level.

26:8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; to thy name, even to thy memorial (name), is the desire of our soul.
26:8 Indeed, [while following] the way of Thy judgments, O LORD, We have waited for Thee eagerly; Thy name, even Thy memory, is the desire of [our] souls.

26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee earnestly: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
26:9 At night my soul longs for Thee, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks Thee diligently; For when the earth experiences Thy judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

26:10 Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not behold the majesty of Jehovah.
26:10 [Though] the wicked is shown favor, He does not learn righteousness; He deals unjustly in the land of uprightness, And does not perceive the majesty of the LORD.

26:11 Jehovah, thy hand is lifted up, yet they see not: but they shall see (thy) zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yea, fire shall devour thine adversaries.
26:11 O LORD, Thy hand is lifted up [yet] they do not see it. They see [Thy] zeal for the people and are put to shame; Indeed, fire will devour Thine enemies.

26:12 Jehovah, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for thou hast also wrought all our works for us.
26:12 LORD, Thou wilt establish peace for us, Since Thou hast also performed for us all our works.

26:13 O Jehovah our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us; but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
26:13 O LORD our God, other masters besides Thee have ruled us; [But] through Thee alone we confess Thy name.

26:14 (They are) dead, they shall not live; (they are) deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all remembrance of them to perish.
26:14 The dead will not live, the departed spirits will not rise; Therefore Thou hast punished and destroyed them, And Thou hast wiped out all remembrance of them.

26:15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Jehovah, thou hast increased the nation; thou art glorified; thou hast enlarged all the borders of the land.
26:15 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, Thou hast increased the nation, Thou art glorified; Thou hast extended all the borders of the land.

26:16 Jehovah, in trouble have they visited thee; they poured out a prayer (when) thy chastening was upon them.
26:16 O LORD, they sought Thee in distress; They could only whisper a prayer, Thy chastening was upon them.

26:17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain and crieth out in her pangs; so we have been before thee, O Jehovah.
26:17 As the pregnant woman approaches [the time] to give birth, She writhes [and] cries out in her labor pains, Thus were we before Thee, O LORD.

26:18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
26:18 We were pregnant, we writhed [in labor], We gave birth, as it were, [only] to wind. We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth Nor were inhabitants of the world born.

26:19 Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is (as) the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.
26:19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.

26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
26:20 Come, my people, enter into your rooms, And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while, Until indignation runs [its] course.

26:21 For, behold, Jehovah cometh forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
26:21 For behold, the LORD is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed, And will no longer cover her slain.
