142:1 I cry with my voice unto Jehovah; With my voice unto Jehovah do I make supplication.
142:1 {Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer.} I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD; I make supplication with my voice to the LORD.

142:2 I pour out my complaint before him; I show before him my trouble.
142:2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him.

142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walk Have they hidden a snare for me.
142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Thou didst know my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.

142:4 Look on (my) right hand, and see; For there is no man that knoweth me: Refuge hath failed me; No man careth for my soul.
142:4 Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.

142:5 I cried unto thee, O Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
142:5 I cried out to Thee, O LORD; I said, "Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

142:6 Attend unto my cry; For I am brought very low: Deliver me from my persecutors; For they are stronger than I.
142:6 "Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.

142:7 Bring my soul out of prison, That I may give thanks unto thy name: The righteous shall compass me about; For thou wilt deal bountifully with me.
142:7 "Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Thy name; The righteous will surround me, For Thou wilt deal bountifully with me."
