40:1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
40:1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
40:2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou rear up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
40:2 "On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
40:3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and thou shalt screen the ark with the veil.
40:3 "And you shall place the ark of the testimony there, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.
40:4 And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.
40:4 "And you shall bring in the table and arrange what belongs on it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and mount its lamps.
40:5 And thou shalt set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
40:5 "Moreover, you shall set the gold altar of incense before the ark of the testimony, and set up the veil for the doorway to the tabernacle.
40:6 And thou shalt set the altar of burnt-offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
40:6 "And you shall set the altar of burnt offering in front of the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
40:7 And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water therein.
40:7 "And you shall set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
40:8 And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.
40:8 "And you shall set up the court all around and hang up the veil for the gateway of the court.
40:9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the furniture thereof: and it shall be holy.
40:9 "Then you shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and shall consecrate it and all its furnishings; and it shall be holy.
40:10 And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and the altar shall be most holy.
40:10 "And you shall anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar; and the altar shall be most holy.
40:11 And thou shalt anoint the laver and its base, and sanctify it.
40:11 "And you shall anoint the laver and its stand, and consecrate it.
40:12 And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tent of meeting, and shalt wash them with water.
40:12 "Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
40:13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments; and thou shalt anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
40:13 "And you shall put the holy garments on Aaron and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister as a priest to Me.
40:14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them;
40:14 "And you shall bring his sons and put tunics on them;
40:15 and thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: and their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
40:15 and you shall anoint them even as you have anointed their father, that they may minister as priests to Me; and their anointing shall qualify them for a perpetual priesthood throughout their generations. "
40:16 Thus did Moses: according to all that Jehovah commanded him, so did he.
40:16 Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.
40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.
40:17 Now it came about in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was erected.
40:18 And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars.
40:18 And Moses erected the tabernacle and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and inserted its bars and erected its pillars.
40:19 And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:19 And he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark.
40:20 Then he took the testimony and put [it] into the ark, and attached the poles to the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.
40:21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up a veil for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:22 And he put the table in the tent of meeting, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the veil.
40:22 Then he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil.
40:23 And he set the bread in order upon it before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:23 And he set the arrangement of bread in order on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:24 And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
40:24 Then he placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle.
40:25 And he lighted the lamps before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:25 And he lighted the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:26 And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil:
40:26 Then he placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the veil;
40:27 and he burnt thereon incense of sweet spices; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:27 and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:28 And he put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
40:28 Then he set up the veil for the doorway of the tabernacle.
40:29 And he set the altar of burnt-offering at the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt-offering and the meal-offering; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:29 And he set the altar of burnt offering [before] the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:30 And he set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water therein, wherewith to wash.
40:30 And he placed the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing.
40:31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat;
40:31 And from it Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet.
40:32 when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
40:32 When they entered the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
40:33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.
40:33 And he erected the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the veil for the gateway of the court. Thus Moses finished the work.
40:34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
40:34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
40:35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.
40:35 And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
40:36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys:
40:36 And throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out;
40:37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
40:37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up.
40:38 For the cloud of Jehovah was upon the tabernacle by day, and there was fire therein by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
40:38 For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.
