102:1 [A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and ①pours out his complaint before the LORD.]
Hear my prayer, LORD!
And let my cry for help come to You.
▷ ①Ps 142:2
102:2 Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call answer me quickly.
102:3 For my days have ended in smoke,
And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.
102:4 My heart has been struck like ①grass and has withered,
Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.
▷ ①Lit herbage
102:5 Because of the ①loudness of my groaning
My bones ②cling to my flesh.
▷ ①Lit voice ②Lit have cleaved
102:6 I resemble a pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
102:7 I lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.
102:8 My enemies have taunted me all day long;
Those who ①deride me ②have used my name as a curse.
▷ ①Lit have sworn by me ②Or made a fool of
102:9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And mixed my drink with weeping
102:10 Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have lifted me up and thrown me away.
102:11 My days are like a ①lengthened shadow,
And ②I wither away like ③grass.
▷ ①Lit stretched out ②Or as for me, I ③Lit herbage
102:12 But You, LORD, ①remain forever,
And Your ②name remains to all generations.
▷ ①Or sit enthroned ②Lit memorial
102:13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion;
For it is time to be gracious to her,
For the appointed time has come.
102:14 Surely Your servants ①take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
▷ ①Or have found
102:15 ①So the ②nations will fear the name of the LORD,
And all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
▷ ①Or And ②Or Gentiles, heathen
102:16 For the LORD has built up Zion;
He has appeared in His glory.
102:17 He has turned His attention to the prayer of the ①destitute
And has not despised their prayer.
▷ ①Or naked
102:18 ①This will be written for the generation to come,
②That a people yet to be created ③may praise ④the LORD:
▷ ①Or Let this be written ②Or And ③Or will ④Heb YAH
102:19 For He looked down from His holy height;
From heaven the LORD looked ①upon the earth,
▷ ①Lit toward
102:20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner,
To set free ①those who were doomed to death,
▷ ①Lit the sons of death
102:21 So that people may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
102:22 When the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
102:23 He has broken my strength in the way;
He has shortened my days.
102:24 I say, “My God, do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your years are ①throughout all generations.
▷ ①Lit in generation of generations
102:25 In time of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
102:26 ①Even they will perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.
▷ ①Lit They themselves
102:27 But You are ①the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
▷ ①Lit He
102:28 The children of Your servants will continue,
And their ①descendants will be established before You.”
